Killing Two Birds With One Q Hook

Recycled sari yarn is awesome looking and supports two good causes; it recycles, and it is hand made by poor women in Nepal, who in turn receive a fair price for it. The problem is that it is super heavy. I got mine for a present 3 years ago and have had no idea what to do with it.

Skip ahead to a few weeks ago when I decided to use my giant Q-Hook to make a crochet rug out of old t-shirts. I want a thick, heavy rug for the playroom that doesn't just feel like a big blanket.

During a rare moment of clarity, I decided to use the sari yarn with my t-shirt yarn.

Behold!

The best part about this, is that one row equals about 3 crocheted rows with regular yarn, so it's working up quickly. The worst part is that I have a certain color theme going and now I need to wait until I have more cool-toned t-shirts or sheets.

That middle section there used to be my favorite yoga pants. (sigh) I frickin' miss those pants.
